Yellow Barley

I think the holiday didn't help, i went away to Spain for 2 weeks, leaving a nice green crop behind and then came back to a yellow one !!! The warmer weather here is helping the barley now!

Ah, damn, in that case a second winter holiday required:) Im to coincide with the final blast of winter scheduled so I gather for a couple of weeks time!! Be mush easier if we were in continental Europe - now there's a thought then it would all be covered in snow. Look white everywhere rather than mottled green and yellow.

Winter Barley needs to die twice
Don’t worry, you more than likely have plenty of tillers and as long as there is some N on by end of month and taken up by plants it will be fine

I manganesed mine in the mild weather early January. Probably a waste of time but was cheap and made me feel better. 1 field needed a herb top up too.

Ours has been various shades of yellow most of the winter, uncle not bothered seen it all before :bookworm:.Agronomist looked at it recently and says it could do with some N soon. Waiting until it's a bit dryer and warmer before going on.

Got the agronomist to look at mine today....he said the best thing at the moment is to look away as I pass it. It's tillered out well but very yellow. Typical barley was the comment . Ground needs to dry up and warm up before much action and there was me chomping at the bit to put nitrogen on !!
