With harvest upon us I wonder what yields will be like this season. Our first patches of OSR were desiccated on July 5th so probably won't start until 26th.Very difficult to predict the yield but not expecting too much.Wheat was quite diseased so I expect yield to be well down too.Spring Oats, for seed, will be late but look far better than last year which was atrocious. Spring beans, again for seed, which will also be late look well.Recent rain will have benefited them.
A friend has cut some Barley which yielded below his average but not as bad as once feared.

No doubt there will be a few pub yields recorded by FW contributors

Disappointing start here, OSR showed promise in the hybrid but the rest let us down, and a fair amount of shatter due to high wind a week before harvest, making the average over the area a rubbish 1.1T/acre.
Craft barley followed on the disappointment, with what the rooks left us to cut, we only managed 2.2T/acre, but it's 100% germination at the mo and has made malting spec, so will see what the markets doing.

Early indications of rape, will be lucky to do 2.5t/ha. Good where it had drier feet, almost not existent where any water has led over winter.
Why on earth anyone would entertain this stuff anymore is beyond me, although I've started thinking about a little bit for next year🤨😪🫤
