Yl183 bodies

Jimmy Chalmers told me that Kongskilde had racks of YL183 left hand boards but nobody wanted them. Though there were a fairly small number of reversibles with these boards Ransomes also made a few left hand conventional ploughs for special applications. Has anyone on here ever seen or used one of these?
Put one of your RH ploughs up against a mirror, then look in the mirror.(y)
Shame they are not RH there value would be much more.

I remember Mr Brewer wanted to buy some RND mouldboards from Cornwall Farmers and for some stupid reason Cornwall Farmers couldn't sell them. When Cornwall Farmers were having a clear out they loaded all these brand new RND's were put on the scrap lorry and Mr Brewer turned up to CF and had just missed the lorry. He drove like hell to the scrap yard and when he arrived at the scrap yard they had just been tipped in the crusher.

Quite. Too many of the "I am going to do it up, one day" type, who never get to the right day, and end up filling a scrap bin with rust!
Farmer I know bought a clean one owner 135 to restore, nothing has been done, and its in constant use! He bought a leyland, same idea, and same result!

On a similar theme it would be a simple task to produce a Sinister or left hand Robin by simply turning the welded frame over. Correct me if I am wrong but all the other components would also invert with possibly the only exceptions being where the key way is cut in the cross shaft, the disk arms and skimmers.

As I said. Got a pair of pattern TCN’s from Kongskilde. Told Charlie Haliday about having trailed 200 miles on a wild goose chase and his immortal words were “wey man - why dint’ yers ask - Aah selt him em’

Could u plough left hand at a match ???
I don`t see why not provided you turn your finish towards your own start and leave the wheel mark on your neighbour's side. A potential brain teaser until you have re-educated yourself.

According to the letter of the law in vintage rules here in England, then all apart from three rounds around your rig (giving 6 furrows for your neighbour to plough up to) and eight furrows ploughed up to the higher number (four not judged and four for your finish, which comprises of the last 8 furrows) then all the rest can be ploughed in the same direction - ie ploughed up to your own crown. The rules apply to two furrow conventional ploughs but it does not qualify whether or not they are left or right hand bodies.
In Scotland you are allowed only two empty runs with both wheels on stubble. Please correct me if I am wrong.

A chap whose name escapes me but some on here may well remember ( Rutland Leicestershire area and ploughed with a Green Massey Harris Pace maker and either a Massey Harris or Cockshutt trailed plough ) he made up a left handed TS 59, we saw this plough in his collection when we visited him on a club outing organized by the late JB Sonny Smith, I asked him why he had done this and he told me that a crick in his neck had forced the modification so he could attend matches whilst recovering from his ailment, I laughed at him and in a polite manner accused the old boy of bullshitting me, he was adamant that he had used the plough at matches and the condition of the plough was certainly good enough to compete - just wished I could remember his name, he may not have a neck problem anymore as he may not still be with us ?

People would always hear Jims tractor first as he always ran it retarded and sounded lovely . Jim came from a little village called Owston off the A47 near Tilton On The Hill . See you soon Roy
