Guys another question on yl bodies are the short landslides all the same?View attachment 619872View attachment 619874
Not just the hole, the shape is wrong as well.Be as well to get some half inch plate and make one.The new picture is from Westlake's but the rear hole looks different from mine.
nothing wrong with the one that on there now, why replace it, its doing its job and no moreGuys another question on yl bodies are the short landslides all the same?View attachment 619872View attachment 619874

The share to board fit is bad as well.Share should be flush to a 32nd above the board, and tight to the board. With a gap like that, soil can build up and take all the shine from the slice.

Will still be doing its job, needs changing when holes appear! It's worn bad with a big bulge in the middle you can't see on the picture
Some do, some don't....I don't cut perfectly good 44's down, I tend to put 57's on instead when I think I need them i.e. Hard stony ground. I did "follow" others years ago and cut some down, couldn't see any difference.... Ransome probably made more different styles of shares than anyone and I've never seen any that resemble the cut down ones...Next question please, ploughing 10'' with yl44 share do you trim the wing down?
I cut mine down to 6.5" to provide a hinge and keep pressure on the boards. The effect varies with soil type but I always produce my best results on heavier soils which comes as a surprise when people realise I come from Norfolk. I have probably won more matches in Essex, Bedfordshire, and south west Cambs than I have won on Norfolk "boys land"Some do, some don't....I don't cut perfectly good 44's down, I tend to put 57's on instead when I think I need them i.e. Hard stony ground. Horses for courses...
Yep, that's the theory I was told, create a hinge. I suppose the 57's kind of do that as they're probably circa 6" wide...I cut mine down to 6.5" to provide a hinge and keep pressure on the boards. Do you change the back share at all on the second to last run or last run?Yep, that's the theory I was told, create a hinge. I suppose the 57's kind of do that as they're probably circa 6" wide...
Made a wide one, used it a time or two and gave up....just stick with a std share. Might have another go at making one for the rear, maybe my first was a little ambitious!Do you change the back share at all on the second to last run or last run?
You plough at National level and you don't use one!Made a wide one, used it a time or two and gave up....just stick with a std share. Might have another go at making one for the rear, maybe my first was a little ambitious!
Thanks for the nice comments. Maybe 93’ish I think, messed around with a fergie for a good few years, got the Ransome in 99/2000, done about 8 nationals, placed 4 times. Takes frcikin’ years to get any good, I’m surprised I have the patience!!You plough at National level and you don't use one!
You came placed several times at the nationals with non-genuine boards!
No fancy moveable headstock or anything fancy on your plough!
Just a simple plough!
You really can plough!
I wish all the top ploughmen were like you that would stop people playing about with original ploughs and making fancy shares.
How long have you been ploughing for?
Well done and keep ploughing! Thanks for the nice comments. Maybe 93’ish I think, messed around with a fergie for a good few years, got the ransomed in 99/2000, done about 8 nationals, placed 4 times. Takes frcikin’ years to get any good, I’m surprised I have the patience!!
