Yorkshire boarding

The yorkshire boarding on our very exposed shed is letting far too much rain and snow through leaving the cows beds covered in puddles and getting through about three weeks worth of bedding in 3 days in an attempt to keep them dry .We did have a gap of 1 foot at the eaves as well covered by a cannopy on the shed , this was a waste of time as the rain and snow come uphill half the time ,the rain snow would then blow onto the first perlin in the shed and drip onto beds ,so yesterday we boarded this gap up which has stopped the worst but we are still getting far too much snow through the boards themselves , should we remove them and narrow the gap to say 10 cm instead of the current 20cm , this would be a tricky job and reduce ventialtion although the other side of shed is completely open as we feed on this side and rain coming in doesn't matter , or I thought a easier job would be buy a load more boards and space board on the inside of the mounting timber leaving a 20cm gap , it would make the shed a lot darker but we would still have a reasonable size gap for ventilation although the air would need to travel through two gaps not in line IFYSWIM , my worry is that when it's howling the snow would still work it's way in when it's light fluffy snow . Or put galebraker up on the open side, although this side poses no issues, by doing this we would slow the air speed through the shed and would this prevent the rain/snow coming through on the other side ? I do like having this side open though to keep shed airy but cannot put up with the amount of rain on beds any longer .Maybe I should forget the space boarding altogether and replace with vented sheets but the cost would prevent this for now but then again it's spring now somewhere underneath this foot of snow and it could wait till after the summer

The most exposed gable on my main cowshed is 34' to the peak and I boarded it with a 12mm gap,it still lets light in and air but stops any weather we have had.

Could you get some farmflex from galebraker and nail it to the boards?

Maybe remove some boards and put farmflex up.

I have seen some very exposed ends with the gable clad with YB on the inside of the rail as well as the out. 25mm gaps with the inner board centre about the gap. Stops any direct weather coming in. Think they used 100mm boards inside so the inside gap was slightly bigger.

Would this be better in terms of ventialtion and preventing snow/rain getting in than reducing the gap to say 10 mm ?

Possible option, granted not the cheapest but a very robust solution.
The system in the pictures is not closed tight as you will notice the air gaps.

We fit vent-air type sheeting to our sheds now and I wouldn't go back to Yorkshire boards if you gave them to me. One shed clad down one side with both types of cladding proved the worth of vent air this year, we had fine snow blown around 10 feet across the shed to a couple of inches deep behind the yorkshire boarding with no snow at all in the shed behind the vent-air. The level of breeze in the shed was cutting behind the YB too, just a gentle breeze in the other half. We have a shed clad on 3 sides with vent-air too, even on a still day there is a gentle breeze in there. They let a surprisingly large amount of light in to a shed too.

have a very small hay shed, built like this, unfortunately this year it has had the effect of channeling the snow between the boards and toward the back wall, it is the first time though, and rain has never been forced this way despite some howling storms. But it would be dark for a livestock shed.
