we have a couple of sheds with yorkshire boards on gable ends both about 7 years old they are treated but have faded to nearly white i wonder would it be a good idea to paint them with old black oil or am i wasting my time ?

Had a builder quote us for a lean-to, told him we wanted Yorkshire boarding which we thought was a generally understood term but he'd never heard of it. This is in Shropshire.
The quotation came in with "timber and gap" walls.
