I failed my lion audit because we had to catch our own hens when the catching gang failed to arrive and we are not qualified to catch says red lion. The hens arrived at the factory in better condition than if I used a catching gang ,The inspector said they would have done what we did. My hen rep says he knows of three other farmer who have had to catch because of poor catchers. feeling p---ed off

Catchers is a major problem. Be interesting to know what training the professionals have. They generally do a great job, but it’s not rocket science. You must have given your helpers some training or it would have been a Pearce.

did you actually fail or was it just a non compliance. Either way as you don’t have any hens you have time to sort it.

Need to do a freedom food training course and get a license. I am thinking of doing it for peace of mind.

When you keep chickens you have to remember that the chickens welfare ALWAYS comes before yours🤯. Instructors and leaflets for everything in this job ironically teaching you to suck eggs 🥚 😒.

What does the qualification allow you to do? I'm assuming it covers you for catching the birds, or is it to assist in the catching? Does it last forever or require cpd to keep current?
