Young farmers dress code at show.

I'm wife noticed that young farmers , male/ female have a dress code, girls wear pink checked shirts, white tight jeans, tan leather horse boots, sunglass.the guys wear checked shirts, green bodywarmer, those expensive ones, blue jeans and big work boots. Once she said that to me ,it was true they do. As its was the last century when l was a young farm,l can't remember if wee had one or not. Quite funny.

You must have been watching one of those posh clubs.
Back in our day there were clubs like that, and they all drove VW Golfs, and mostly GTis at that. We, however, wore rugby shirts and jeans always, and usually club rugby shirts, although not always our own club. (Only after the club had a change of colour from the bright yellow we were in the '80s!) And we all drove Ford Fiestas. A handful of wealthy members had black XR2s, but the rest of us riff-raff had red 1.1s or 1.3s!

These days I see them mostly in club shirts still, but polo shirts as a rule now, and as likely to be in a shirt from a club in Shropshire or Northumberland they nabbed from the AGM as their own.

My daughter is working as a sales assistant on a clothes emporium stand at the Royal Highland so I will ask her when next see her. (and yes, she wears some of that dress code though not the pink gingham shirt!)

Whats wrong with looking reasonably smart with a country touch to it? I cant see a problem with it and not exactly funny? I doubt they all wear exactly the same. Its one of those cases that if you start looking for something you will think there is suddenly more than there really is. I can think of much worse ways to dress!

You are forgetting sunglasses on the head too! My friends have strict instructions, if they ever see me wearing one of these bodywarmers, a tweed jacket or pink/red/blue/green jeans, they are to shoot on site.

I did have my sunglasses on my head, but they walked off at some point in Friday night...

Whats with the shoeffel bashing - my boys wear smart jeans , crew or similar shirts , leather shoes and their shoeffel when out and look very smart - its a darn sight better than asda jeans and a gillet with some machinery logo all over it . Yes they are expensive but are smart and good to see our kids have some old fashioned values and well mannered - rant over !

i passed 2 schoffel stands at the highland show and they were doing a roaring trade at @£120/£140 a shot, I do have a couple of fleece waitcoats but the cheaper ones and they are smart enough, warm enough, light enough to wear for most occasions so why not  if you want to spend twice or 3 times as much as someone else for a brand name then that's up to you but as with everything you pay for quality
