ive had a few unplanned pregs over the years, alot of worry leading up to the birth, will it be a vet job? ive found, touch wood that the last couple have been alright and calved themselves okay, gone on to be good mothers as well ?

Had this girl calve on 6th June. Born 20th April so not much over 13.5 months.
Calf was decent size for any heifer, but the heifer is tiny so was bit concerned. All OK but wouldn't want to make a habit of it.
Was a young bull in his first season so hope he doesn't get a taste for the heifer calves!

I had one born on 25 04 2010 and calve on 02 7 2011 no vet involved but the heifer did collapse after standing when it had given birth, has calved with no problem every year except 2014 when it "had a year off" had twins last year just a single every other time.
Expect hassle from BCMS as they will want to see your calving records.

She’s a well grown heifer! Nice tidy little outfit there. Our youngest was 13 months 2 days but we didn’t get a live calf. We had it induced a week early but it must have been 2/3 weeks off when it came out. Struggled with it for 3 days before it just faded away. That heifer never was any bloody good! 😂

That is some going, the bulls that serve our heifers must have given a little skip rather than a jump!

Heifer looks well grown for its age , esp considering it was growing itself and a calf too !
Plenty milk too 👍
My son told me a couple of months ago that he thought she was in calf , thought it was just udder fat , outside she went until a month ago when she was showing more udder , again just dismissed it as another mate in the bunch suckling it until a week ago when she had a good bag of milk and realised sh!t on it , she was in calf, but she has never had any gut , the calf must have been stood up while inside her . Luckily she was in calf to her father in the back ground of the picture who is very easy calving and she has grown on really well and was around ,500kilos at 13 months old , she has bags of milk,is a quiet good mum , so am feeling really pleased but I know I've been really lucky to get away with it and on another heifer of the same age it would of been a complete disaster

Sounds like she will be a keeper to me 👍

In the 1980’s my father had a company that exported dairy farms and cattle to the Middle East. One day he was called out to a farm in Saudi that had already stared dairying. The Arabic owner was very proud of his family and cattle and took my father to see a field of yearling cattle, both sexes mixed together! They did look well, especially the heifers, because they were all pregnant.

When my father pointed it that all the heifers were pregnant, to which the owner said they could not be because the Bulls hadn’t yet been trained.

My father then asked him “Did anybody train you?”

We have usually called it early and jabbed them so haven't had anything like this.

I have seen some very young bulls (for their weight) at some of the major sales though :bag:

Bonny cattle, she looks to be in love with it aswell, not so bad if it happens like that!!
I’ve got one that I’ve found, I’d say she’s a month off yet, little beef shorthorn heifer not the biggest, incalf to a rig with a stone up that I thought ide got rid of before he did any damage!😩
