youngstock housing

we are bringing the R1s back in house this coming winter,so we will be converting a straw barn to house them.
our thoughts are to put in cubicles down each side and have a central feed passage. shed is 43 ft wide.
so my questions are are cubicles the right thing to do and if so what type of cubicle should we use? the plastic cubicles we prefer for the cows i don't think are suitable as training cubicles.

Yeah sorry bit of a riddle but @Dragon is right.
Can you feed on the outside of the shed ?
To be fair any of manufacturers cubicle metal ones will do a good job with mattresses

My heifer beds are deep woodchip,no mats ,works fine and heifers are clean.Cheap as well, you may need to top up mid winter.

Yes mine do,they all go in the old original dairy cubicles and touch wood not one has needed encouragement to lie properly over the years, bedded on straw
do you ever get them lying in backwards? where we had them previously they were housed in the old dairy cubicles and they would come back to us with 25% each season lying in backwards and many don't grow out of it:(
