    Still very windy in the north with frequent heavy showers hail and thunder while over the hills falling as sleet or snow. Staying mainly dry further south with sunny spells. High of 11C/52F

    Outlook for Christmas day:

    Mild start on Christmas Day as Storm Conor approaches bringing rain and locally strong winds up to 70MPH especially over Scotland, very mild with a high of 14C/57F

    Boxing Day:

    Rain clearing south-east with showers wintry in the north, dryer further south. High of 8C/46F

    Overnight: wintry showers in the north but dryer in the south with a widespread frost.

    East yorks
    Rain much worse in our part of Yorkshire today, rained pretty much constant for the last 2hrs some torrential vs about 20mins yesterday
