Watched the BBC weather for the week ahead that I recorded overnight. They described this weather band as fizzling out with the occasional odd heavy burst. Sorry mate this is heavy persistent rain!!

Looking at the radar, looks grim, one more big rain event will take us close to a finish for this season.
Looked at one of my neighbours fields the other day, heavy land, ploughed when wet, after this rain it will be wet on top and wet underneath, hope less.

I thought the BBC were scrapping their contract with the Met Office for their weather forecasts. Not before time. I can see why because they are completely wrong a lot of the time. Heavy rain here - forecast was for a dry day!

Met Office / BBC contract ended in spring 2017 I think. Now provided by some overseas, venture capital owned jobby.

Is that a comment on the weather or the forecasting performance?

Both. However other forecasts just as bad. Pitchcare has been using "retrospective forecasting" where it looks fine in the morning and then when you come back in it has "updated" to show you wha the weather you have just seen with your own eyes is doing. For example, yesterdays morning forecast for the week was for 1mm on Wednesday night as the ony rain for the 7 days. Last night it had replaced this with a total of 19mm forecast for the next 5 days, with rain on four of the days. I'd call that poor forecasting.
