It's a soul sapping feeling when you begin to think that weather patterns are moving outwith previous norms , to one's business destruction.

I found a clipping of my Great-great -grandfather getting a days ploughing from all his friends and neighbours to set him up in his new "tack " ie tenancy of this farm in January 1868. So after 150 years it has become all but impossible to farm , or so it would seem.

The same man won a medal from the Highland Society for his essay on growing carrots - on land here at 650 ' up , on heavy clay and a northerly exposure. Now we can't even seem to manage a grass reseed.

Tell me about it. Took 2 years to reseed a field. Sprayed it off 1st year and couldn’t get near it again. Then manage the year before last to get it in. Didn’t risk ploughing it. Last year got 1st cut off it, haven’t been able to go near it since end of June last year. Normally cut at least 3x
