My fear about this spell of hot and dry weather is what we get when it ends. Usually get thunder, downpours and hail, not what is needed with thousands of acres of especially OSR in the fields.

Quite agree, historically thunderstorms normally follow a hot spell in this country. Our oilseed rape is variable and wee are not due to desiccate (if necessary) for 10 days or so. Winter barley and rape will all need to be cut at same time.

Last night was horrible, at 7 p.m it was 30 deg C, by 10 p.m it was still 23 deg C, minimum was 17 deg C at 4 a.m this morning when I started work. Being on early shifts and going to bed (or trying to) at 6-7 p.m in these conditions is no fun.

Back up to about 25 deg C now but as above it does feel slightly fresher.
