Heavy blustery showers. Never dries underfoot. All week walking through surface mud on the road planings to the workshop. Ordering some bilge pumps to try to raise water out of "flat" lengths of drain header pipe in the field. It's a bit of fun. A project. An experiment. I like faffing about with water levels, pumps, level switches and pipes. But seriously I won't be able to harvest the rest of the beet until I shift more water. Bit I am first and foremost and engineer so I can do it. Well after a few beers I can anyway.

Every week I think surely this must finish, it can’t carry on wet.
But it does.
Another 26mm last week.
I keep reminding myself that there are many worse off than me (pretty much all of the marsh and fens in Lincs is in a dreadful state), but this incessant rain is so lowering.

Another 17mm over the weekend. Water sat everywhere, next to no drilling done, but after watching the programme about Doddy Weir and his battle with MND, it sort of puts it into perspective, we have very little to worry about.
