Everything is later, but that said silage for the AD plant has been done around here (rye) Some baling has been done but not really started yet. Hay was started May 23rd last year but looks more like mid June this year(?). Barley is in ear and wheat is just at ear emergence. Some maize and sunflowers are in the ground and at the moment look good. Harvest will probably start end of the third week of June for barley.
This rain came just in time for us, us being the area because like you we were very dry.

Cold easterly wind. 8 degrees. We have had two days of what I would call heat since the winter. Things aren’t moving very fast at all here and must be at least a month behind. I’ve never seen anything like it. Grass still like a lawn where we moved the sheep off 2 months ago. Rubbish.

From my diary , this week last year saw the coldest May night in Northern Ireland since 1982 . We had several frosts which ultimately saw us without an apple , and I counted 12 rowan berries on three trees in the garden. The chestnut trees got fried too. Prior to that it had been lovely - dry warm and sunny for days on end through April and early days of May.

just got back from a trip to London (to see a new grandchild) to find water standing everywhere after a deluge this afternoon of 30mm! Was hoping to put last split of n on tomorrow but tramlines full of water. Had enough now!
By the way .
Congratulations on birth of your grandchild .
