Overcast, humid. Morning wind now died away. Wheat testing at 14.5% last evening, now17%.

Cambs/Suffolk border: Still as dry as bones left to bleach in the Sahara for 1,000 years, but only 20°C and finally cloudy.

No storms or even a whisper of rain since before the heatwave, ground is rock hard, grass burnt off, trees are dropping leaves. The forecast says it should be raining hard right now.

Thunderstorm just arrived here after seeing them wandering away up the channel for the last 24 hours.. It was getting desperate so hopefully the start of a wet spell.

We missed the main bit but just caught that red tail got 16mm
