Sunday was cold wet and cloudy, 40mm in the rain gauge. Today it's cold about 1 degree but blue sky after a little rain in the night and 3 mm in the gauge.

I’ve got two family members whose birthdays are on the 11th and 15th April and the last time it snowed on the 15th was 1997 that’s what they can remember.

Glorious in the sun in a sheltered spot. Got the bean bag out and soaking up the rays for for a minute or two. Or three.

-5 forecast tonight. Could wipe out my beet crop 20 days after drilling FFS. Won’t be buying more seed that’s for sure. That’s it. Late drilled wheat going backwards. Considering ploughing it in. Not much joy to be found at the moment. What a total crock.

Frost in April and early May are not unusual here, in fact we get them most years, but I can't remember a run of frost nights like this in April.
