Forecast: 24 hours (weather and hazard summary)
Today will see further heavy and thundery showers across the region, these most potent in the afternoon. Frequent lightning strikes are possible in the most potent showers along with 15-20mm of rain possibly occurring in the space of an hour. Localised flooding is therefore possible. Showers easing through the evening, with clear spells following overnight. 24-hour rainfall totals may locally reach 30-40mm in areas affected by numerous showers.

Tomorrow is expected to see more in the way of settled weather with sunny spells and just the odd localised shower. Some uncertainty in the forecast overnight though more persistent rain may push in from the south-west. This may turn heavy later on overnight and be accompanied by some brisk winds. This rain should gradually clear through Friday morning leading into sunny spells and showers by the afternoon. A few of these may be heavy, more likely towards Norfolk. Some lightning strikes may occur here, along with 10-15mm of rainfall in the space of an hour in the heaviest in the afternoon. Cool and showery for the weekend though the showers should again be less potent compared to recent days. Showers are more likely towards eastern areas of the region.

Got up to 19 here today now down to 16, just a sprinkling of a shower this afternoon, was in the Suffolk/ Norfolk border yesterday with a beautiful day at 25c……

About 5mm, caught the edge of the storms today but some hail down near the Humber bridge I was told

First time I crossed the Humber it was on a paddle steamer, crossed over on the bridge loads of times now it’s awesome!!! Although it frightened me a bit first time…..

Had two successive thunder storms about 6.30 pm, can see at least 25mm. in the gauge. Still plenty of winter barley to be cut round this way with many people not having started at all.

95mm now, almost unheard of. Usually sandland hereabouts in August is brown and a fire hazard, b not this year.
