2c here at the moment fog with rain forecast later.
East Anglia:
Status: Green
Forecast - 24 hours (weather and hazard summary)

Some early morning mist and fog patches will lift, leaving behind a cloudy day with outbreaks of rain pushing east, these perhaps a little heavy at times through the afternoon. Skies will clear in the evening for an increasingly dry and cold night to follow, with a widespread frost expected by the end of the night.

Forecast - 2 to 5 Days (weather and hazard summary)

Clouding over from the west on Tuesday ahead of the arrival of Storm Barra, this bringing a band of heavy rain in through the afternoon. Strong winds will accompany the rain during the afternoon and evening, with mainly southerly winds gusting 40-50mph across the region; more exposed coastal lines may also see gusts exceeding 50mph. The band of heavy rain will clear eastwards from the route through the first part of the night, with clearer and drier conditions everywhere from the early hours. 24h rainfall totals of 10-15mm will be possible, this most likely across southern and western parts of the region.

A dry and bright start looks likely on Wednesday, albeit still breezy. Increasing cloud amounts through the afternoon will see rain returning from the west, this showery in nature. A largely dry night will follow under long clear periods. Thursday and Friday look to follow a similar theme, with variable cloud during the days and overnight, and the chance of some outbreaks of rain at times. Somewhat drier and clearer during the nights and chilly

Weather

Status: Red (Wind)

Forecast: Forecast - 24 hours (weather and hazard summary)

Increasing amounts of cloud this morning ahead of Storm Barra, which will move eastwards across the UK today. A band of heavy rain will move eastwards this afternoon alongside increasingly blustery winds. South to south-easterly winds are expected to gust widely 40-50mph, with isolated gusts exceeding 50mph almost anywhere across the region as the rain moves through. The strongest of the winds look to be focussed across coastal parts of East Anglia later this afternoon and for a time during the evening, with isolated gusts likely to reach or slightly exceed 60mph in area extending from Clacton-on-Sea, through Ipswich and towards Great Yarmouth. The rain will clear to the east as the evening progresses, leaving a largely dry night with clear spells. Winds will also ease as the rain clears, although it will remain blustery with south-westerly winds widely 40-50mph. 24hr rainfall totals are likely to exceed 10mm in places.

Forecast - 2 to 5 Days (weather and hazard summary)

Remaining blustery tomorrow with showers or longer spells of rain pushing in from the west after a mostly dry and bright start. The rain heaviest and most persistent across parts of East Anglia, with gusts widely reaching 40-45mph. Winds tending to ease during the evening and overnight with most showers tending to fade away. It will turn chilly where skies clear sufficiently with a frost possible locally.

Variable amounts of cloud on Thursday with some showers. Showers tending to fade away to leave a largely dry and chilly evening, although a band of showery rain looks to edge in from the west overnight. Another day of variable cloud on Friday with some showers possible, although it will become drier during the afternoon. A mainly dry, clear and cold night to follow, although cloud amounts tending to increase from the west later. Saturday looks unsettled with outbreaks of rain moving in from the west later in the day, some of which could be heavy.

Here it comes
Pretty windy with some horrible gusts now... The wind direction is 180 degrees to Arwen, so will loosen up a few more roofs and trees... :-( Off to dig the gennies out, and make sure they both start.

Sister in rural Co Galway has battened down everything.... She is now remembering her promise to herself of 6-7 years ago when looking at a retirement location. " I will not have a property in the West of Ireland, I will not stay over-winter in the West of Ireland"....

Hmmmmm
