These winds gusting to around 40mph in the south at their peak during the afternoon, possibly strong enough to damage branches given many trees in full leaf. Some of the showers will be heavy, with a risk of frequent lightning strikes in the heaviest showers as well as hail. Rainfall totals of 15-20mm are possible in locations affected by the heaviest showers, most likely in the north of the region. The showers are expected die away late in the evening, leaving a largely dry night. Further heavy, blustery showers are expected on Saturday, with some longer spells of rain possible later in the day. Another day of blustery showers is likely on Sunday.</p></blockquote><p></p>
