Always had a soft (?mental) spot for wagons and am enjoying the current Last Foden thread that FT started @Forage Trader

I even did my College thesis on the value of the farm lorry.

In my youth I drove various stock wagons; F86 Volvo, Merc 1617 with an air spilt 8 speed gearbox all in reverse, AEC Mercury (that really leant with a full load of cull cows and no assisters) and some interesting drives on the marquee work including all ages and weights of D Series Fords, DAF 2700 drawbar with demount bodywork and some horrible Ford Cargos.

I've also run an ERF B series with 26ft Houghton box (pictured with Jon Burgess, livestock box guru)

Be interested in your old or current wagon photos - livestock wagons of yonder and in historic settings like markets no longer here of particular interest

Love the scania s and bulker s... First lorry I bought when I passed my hgv was a 112 scania and 2 axle low loader..
Then had a high cab 113.. Would buy a 143 in a heart beat if one came up tidy enough.. I'd rather drive the older stuff than new...
I don't go into London so wouldn't matter to me.. Would love rear lift as well so don't get stuck in woods as much...

I have done time with one also (in an Iveco). It was half worn out and temperamental. Definitely make you look further up the road and anticipate traffic conditions better. Didn't drive it enough to get good at it. My usual truck at the time was a MAN with comfort shift 'box.
