your thoughts on cropping method

Hi

my current process for farming 150 acres of light sandy loam in a 4 year rotation 1st wheat/ 2nd wheat/ barley/ spuds....

Muck stubbles then light disc to allow a chit
Round up where necessary (had problems with couch grass in previous years)
Plough and press
followed by combination drill then roll

currently using a spray contractor and first spray usually goes on post em

i realise there will be a few of you nil till/ min till lovers but thats not really an option other than a heavy discing to replace plough and press but my comb won't handle trash very well

any suggestions...be nice!

Spuds every four years is too close, you will get a rapid buildup of PCN after the second crop?

If the land is suitable for potatoes do you really think it will be suited to second wheats? How about wheat/barley/pulses/wheat//barley/spuds?

That is basically the rotation here. Think it makes sense!

Why is ground suitable for potatoes no good for 2ndwheat?

Lighter soil suitable for root crops soil will be more prone to take all in second wheats.
