My brother in law is at leek, you won't be too far away,if you can keep cutting it keep feeding it, the way the weather can change with you take it while you can.Been doing this for about a week now but wondering if it ought to be going in the clamp if the weathers going to turn?
Yes I can just about see your relations from my top ground. My ‘setup’ is at the forefront of technological design, it’s a late 1970’s taarup single chop and an even more modern case ih 844 turbo. My brother in law is at leek, you won't be too far away,if you can keep cutting it keep feeding it, the way the weather can change with you take it while you can.
What setup are you running ?
We've tried cutting the night before if heavy rain is forecast next day but it does start to heat by the following afternoon, the fresher the betterHow long does your grass keep before getting hot @pappuller ?. I find after being knocked about by chopper 24 hours is the max.

Normally try to cut it as fresh as possible here also but if heavy rain is coming and ground conditions are deteriorating then we’ll cut the night before and spread it out. A bit more work but doesn’t heat anywhere near as much.
and a proper handler aswellThat’s a tidy silage clamp face...... credit to you[emoji106]

Looks like super silage from that angle. But also really really short chop.
Great setup @Suckndiesel , would like to try and get something like that going myself, rather than going outright and getting a zero grazer.
Out of interest, how do you find your Merlo, we bought a Turbo Farmer new just over 3 years ago, and it has broke my heart. We had 2 Manitous before that which where relatively trouble free.
Thanks.
Have had 4 merlos since 1994. Get on well enough with them, currently have a 2010 32.6 and a 2009 28.8. Don’t know much about the newer ones but wouldn’t be keen on all the emissions guff on them now. What bother did you have?
See man on pit kept silage just below the concrete which is goodNormally try to cut it as fresh as possible here also but if heavy rain is coming and ground conditions are deteriorating then we’ll cut the night before and spread it out. A bit more work but doesn’t heat anywhere near as much.
