Went to South Africa 5 or 6 years ago on safari and the guides were quite open about the threat of land grabs being a growing threat. The money they paid to local leaders was phenomenal and could only get larger.

Yes that was my first thought. But I also have a little sympathy; inequality is vast in South Africa, and it is wrong that 72% of land is held by a rich, white, minority of the population.

However it is clear that the process will be corrupt, with ANC cronyism, and not sufficient regard to the skills and experience needed to farm the land. Sadly a creaking economy is going to take another massive hit.

It could also be argued that it is wrong that the vast majority of land is held by a small amount of the population in the U.K. And almost any other country. The largest land owner in England is the C of E undoubtedly much of this was taken by force.
I will ignore your reference to colour as I find this irrelevant, I am colour blind.

Seen no mention of this on BBC news. Despite loads of coverage a few weeks ago about Zuma being ousted and a new start for SA. You would think that the threat of violent land seizures would be widely reported. Guess it doesn't fit the accepted narrative.
What can you expect from The Biased Broadcasting Corporation ?.they are a shamefull organization nowadays. The Chinese could well be in the running to take over some of this land,as they have in other parts of the continent.

As an aside I well remember that in the 60's it was proposed by a Labour Government that they could take over and nationalize UK farmland and create soviet style collective farms. Perhaps comrade Corbyn is considering this option ?

What surprises me is that this comes as a surprise to anyone. It's Africa, they are black, most of them don't like whites, some hate whites and whip up the rest. The povo - the common people - follow 'chiefs', whether tribal or political, the chief speaks and the rest follow. The chiefs / leaders couldn't give a toss about what will really happen to the povo, they are in it for power and money for themselves, and nothing else.

It's even less of a surprise, coming now, because the ANC is up the creek regarding credibility and needs to deflect attention, and Ramaphosa wants to establish himself in a big way. The result will be a lot of skilled immigrants escaping to here and to other civilised countries, the economic slow-death of South Africa and the dividing of its resources between very big business - at a guess, increasingly, of Chinese origin - and the crooks 'running' the country.

It didn't need to happen like this, it doesn't need to happen at all - there is a hell of a lot of public land in SA - there could have been paths to Africanise the economy rationally. But that's Africa.
