I would just say be very careful handling these materials! I am rather surprised they allow the sale of such things to amateurs.
With care there is nothing to worry about, but accidentally mixing very powerful acids and alkalis will cause boiling material flying about.

Contemplating buying something like this.... https://www.gaterosplating.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=231 the idea is to plate all the bright parts on a MF 185 any comments folks?.
We use this firm,
But buying the kit is the easy part
You need to blast the parts and remove all the rust spots then buff them to a bright finish for best results, there is quite a bit of time to get the plateing right...
To much current and you scorch the items to little current and it flakes off or goes nobbly

There is a knack with it with patience you can achieve great results
The cheap kits are really quite crude but work on small items the larger items the little kits ain't just man enough..

Hope this helps

Best of luck
Anymore info give me a ring

Thanks James, the cosmetic stuff is a bit away yet, just me getting ahead of myself, clutch , engine seals , steering bushes and the diesel tank has started leaking strange thing is it dosent look rusty :scratchhead: looking for a knob for the seat. it only because the weather has been broken that some progress has been made

Fuel tank don't really leak as such
They can fracture around the tap area and at the seams...
Yes poor weather and idol hands ??
I only have half of one of them knobs I think...I'll double check for you

Aye , I cleaned it with brake cleaner its leaking at the flange of the outlet. Its just the top bit of the knob I,m after, still to order the cover yet .The flexi cab cladding from J W Trim looks good, its a 178 kit with it being so an early a 185 . Its the only one I,v seen with an oil bath air filter ,at the time they came out the dry air filter was always one of the improvements mentioned It not as if its first off the line going by the serial no.
