Zolvix wormer!

Cost them a fortune to get to market. Initially vet only so limited use now open supply but trying to keep use limited to strategic dosing and quarantine, to delay resistance. Resistance to it already so use will be limited therefor Novartis have to make their money back buy charging a fortune. Rest of the wormers have a million genetics which keeps price down, Zolvix won’t be there for several years yet.

Made the mistake of buying 2.5 litres of wormer without checking the price.
£450 ish:(:banghead::scratchhead:
How the heck do they think up prices?

Don't use it unless you have to (hopefully you haven't opened it and can take it back:confused:) Save it until clear and yellow wormers don't work for you.

I would have hoped the assistant at your local merchant would have asked you if it was what you really wanted/needed.

Yes. I had a bit of resistance last year so was just going to give them a dose of something good and different. But its overkill really looking at it with hindsight. Annoyingly it was on mole valleys last promotion leaflet. The staff never said a word about it.

Use it before clear and yellow don’t work! Best practice is lambs once per year about now. Takes some of the pressure off groups and hopefully prolongs their efficacy.

Aside from the resistance issues, how many lambs have you got to drench? Dose rate is 1ml per 10kg iirc, so 2.5L does a hell of a lot of lambs at 30-35kg (sorry, can’t be arsed working out how many).

I have only got 250 to do :eek:
3 years worth then:whistle: - I bet the expiry date won't be that long :(

As I said before, it's pretty bad form of your merchant to sell you something as expensive as that without double checking that it was what you really wanted.

To be fair, our MV depot often ask how many you have to do. Wormers there are always 'behind the counter' and you can't just pick it up of the shelf.

I bought a litre of Zolvix from Wynnstay a couple of weeks ago, to do some lambs with a high FEC and where there was a history (last year) of heamonchus. They had to fill a form in at the shop, detailing how many lambs I was going to drench with it (which seemed a little bizarre really). Presumably MVF just make their own up?:scratchhead:

Why not buy the 1litre can then? Quick, take it back!

I know with CCF & Wynnstay both ask for details to be filled in with its purchase.

Have you definitely got a problem with other wormers @Grassman? I dropped in a couple of samples to my vets to do FEC's and white wormer was working fine. And each test cost £9.

Certainly worth everyone checking to find out whether they can still use wormer groups effectively, or whether they might as well be drenching with water.
Very rare to have 99%+ kill rate on anything but Nemo from white wormer these days. Protect that as long as you can. (y)

Usually do fec samples but busy with harvest. Needed to fetch some pour on fly control so thought I would get some different wormer to what has been already used. Saw the mole flyer and just bought it. I didn't even look at the dose rate till I got home.
I know:banghead::banghead: my fault!

May be but they should have asked you , our local branches do.
Presuming you haven't opened it as others say swap it for a 1 litre. If they get funny about taking it back (I don't think they're supposed to take back pharmaceuticals) play on the fact you were miss sold without the appropriate information being considered.

Can startect be got over there, It’s the other new class of wormer (purple drench ) that came out at the same time as zolvix. I bought it a few years back as a quarantine for bought in sheep. Think it was around €100 for a litre at the time, so should be cheaper then zolvix.
