Straights direct give the November soya bean meal price as £354/t.

Are whole soya beans worth £120/t more than the meal once the oil has been extracted?

Here in western Canada meal and whole beans run pretty close in price from what I’ve heard. The meal will need roasting to make a protected fat available for livestock. We grow 800 acres of soya most years and it’s a good crop for our rotation. Never a hard time finding a buyer. Soil is in good condition after them. Wheat after soya is general good as the beans are relatively shallow rooted leaving subsoil moisture intact. Don’t try notil unless your wanting short crappy beans. Hot soil is the key for soya. 15 inch rows is best for air circulation reducing disease and aids harvest too. You’ll need a flex head for your combine or the best heavy bigger beans in the bottom will be lost. And roll to sink any stones,it will cut the dirt in the combine too.

Hey spin cycle what the rt requirement. Might be terminology nit heard here. Here we have a technology agreement that won’t let us use our own seed with their tech traits in. Utter bullsh1t. But Monsanto screwed a farmer for everything he had just to prove a point. I’ve been audited by them with beans. They checked all my bean acres for population and matched it with seed purchases. Got a nice leather jacket for my trouble. Neighbours were shaking in their shoes. Lol.

The £354 soya meal will be any-origin meal (probably standard GMO Brazilian)
The Price for Identity- Preserved Food-grade non-GM beans beans (UK or Canadian Hard IP) is currently around £500 per tonne delivered mainland UK. They are different products with different origins with different end-uses - hence the price differential.

Soya uk. What heat units range would you be aiming to sell. And yield range. The trend here is towards single seed placement like with maize. Aiming to establish 140k plants an acre

Hi Flatliner - In the UK we aim to use the very earliest varieties - Maturity Group 0000 which usually have a CHU requirement around 2250. With those varieties, you usually aim for about 55 plants per square metre (220k per acre). Obviously, your latitude determines the maturity group you would grow, and therefore the target population. If you guys are aiming for 35 plants per square metre - I'm guessing you are growing group 0 or group 1 varieties?? Wider rows?
As for yields - a good crop for us would be doing over 1 tonne per acre, and an OK-ish one would be doing 0.75 to a tonne. We also get poorer ones where the seedbed hasn't been right or establishment has been poor, but if populations are achieved, we normally hope for a tonne.
