worst year ever

Tweedside dryest area Uk since march 2013. Three weeks in july has seen same rainfall as previous 3 months. 70ml.
Rains at least once a day, sometimes bouncing off the paving. At least it did not rain on ST Swithins day to any great extent, if you are a believer in old sayings!

Everything was saturated this morning after yesterday's rain. Went on to the hill to check the gimmers who looked like drowned rats. The place was just squelching.

The day gradually got better from mid morning on and it's a nice evening now. The sun in shining across the glen outside the window. Could do with a lot more of that.

We've just had 24 hours of continuous rain that we could have done without, that was on the back of a wet Saturday. Today's temperature was struggling to get much above 10 degrees all day, it was more like Oct/Nov than July, uncut grass is now going flat and a lot of barley crops are going the same way.

The Border Union show got a wet day on Saturday, very heavy showers, the showground was pretty muddy by the end of the day, attendance seemed poor, I hope Friday was better.

We had three dry days against the forecast - Thursday , Friday , Saturday. Yesterday and today since then have been atrocious. Nonstop heavy , cold rain. Like Martin says above , it was more like an October day today.

We mowed a field of silage on Friday and baled on Saturday. Just after we finished baling, we got a torrential downpour at 2 o'clock. The tractors weren't leaving a mark on the field in the morning , but back on the field after only roughly 20 minutes rain , they were leaving quite a brown track. The ground is only just fit to get on to and no more - it can't take another shower , and that's on a very dry , free draining field.

Same here @CharcoalWally forecast was good for fri and sat here. Torrential rain 6pm Fri night, then again 2pm on Sat. Got what was felled baled - but finished in the rain on Sunday... we aborted a few acres on Sunday, fields very greasy -tractor digging in and spinning up trying to climb up hill... didnt even dare try baling downhill!

We have ended up with 2x as many bales as we usually make. Nearly all good quality, just serious bulk this year! Still hoping this heatwave comes to get last fiekd in hay - we literally have nowhere left to store silage

Got the end rigs done but still got the bulk to do. Could be a cut in morn bale in afternoon job because they forecast is pretty shite.

I know 2012 was bad but this seems worse because they're literally hasn't been two dry days In a row.

Sssshhhhh
Whisper it
But I think

I HAVE SEEN THE SUN!!!!!!!

Things have been improving here of late with lots of silage activities going on. There has seemingly been massive sales for various kinds of flotation tyres of late.

I'm managing to snip my way through silage not to badly & think I may manage to get hay made this week!!

The weather could, of course, all turn to rats pi$$ again though.

Rained all Sunday , all day yesterday , it's rained all night by the look of things , it's rained all morning so far , and , yes , it's just started to rain heavier again , as it clearly wasn't raining hard enough for the Rain Gods.

So I'm having a short break from my Underwater Life to post this. A dry forecast for the next two days for round here according to the BBC. Then we have to get back on the ark again.:(

Looks like it s you southerners turn. Dried up here a lot past few days. I think every tractor and sheep shearer is on the go. A mad rush! Dust flying at our reseed! Was a swamp 10 days. Bloody hope it will continue, going to mow some more grass today as well!
