nothing is worse than scotch locks!!! except household block connectors that have rusted solid

I use truck type clang sockets on the trailer end, they are a much more reliable connection

Seconded, anything I work on gets one of these (24N socket) on the trailer. They won't pull out. Then buy a standard 24n suzi that has a moulded male plug both ends. Cut one off and wire a 12N on. As sealed as it was before, but the suzi keeps it out the way of the link arms and allows easy replacement.

It's a real solution for so many farmers Andrew... and the pics came out really well. The new Prac Farm Ideas is being printed and looks like making the Aug 8 launch date. Will get a bundle of copies to you as soon as the office copies arrive.
Re electrical problems. I just can't understand why Scotch locks are allowed. I had a Bateson livestock trailer and the lights were a nightmare, until I rewired using my soldering iron, insulating tape and a dab of silicone over the joint. The lead was re-routed down the side rather than under the floor. So many makers pull it tight so it looks neat, but cattle weight stretches the cable. Better on the side. I filled the container with silicone, and a PFI contributor years ago showed how he used it in light fittings. Thanks for the brilliant farm walk!
