Rigged up this badger proof molasses mineral feeder

The canvas back for the land rover double cab has had a hole chewed in it over the summer whilst it's been off  and is a complete pain to take on and off .... So purchased a ifor Williams top of a mate for a 90 . It was too long for the 110

Marked and cut the extra off with a grinder and re drilled and revitedthe outer frame ,made up some brackets and fitted a gas strut to the rear mesh

It doesn't open quite as high as I would like but could do with a longer gas strut
Re drilled and riveted on the fixing brackets and new j bolts , all in £45 :)

New Holland tx throttle not working due to electrics problems so rigged this up on advice from mechanic

Disconnected throttle actuator, attached long string, find suitable route out of engine bay and over grain tank.
Pull and hook onto spring to give full revs

should be fine mp
what do you think of my idea of putting those mineral lick ball feeders in the parlour to get the buggers in or will they empty one in no time

well it will get the first row in, but then they wont go out, maybe you could rig up an old feeder to give the first cow a very small drop of cake? im assuming the rest will follow

does the walls actually do anything? would be so nice n light without the walls

when i get cow flow issues its just that the first cow doesnt want to come in, im convinced they are afraid of the front gates here

Stray voltages in the parlour will leave the cows not wanting to come in? If all the steelwork they are in contact with are not at the same voltage (ideally zero) they will be reluctant to enter/move. They say it only takes a few volts for the cows to react.

Just thought I'd share that nugget of information ...............

If you could get the ball for the strut directly on the side of the mesh gate rather than up on the bracket it'll open up a little further for you. May need a slight bit of a lift to get it to start opening but will have no problem staying open. You might get away with drilling a small hole in outside edge and a larger hole on the back edge to get in at the nut
