Thanks was interested if the 250mm row spacing had any affect on wheat yields
i am surprised that there aren't more these about
Trouble is any large drill is very expensive, for us drilling cover crops then main crop so I would be drilling around 3000ac a season the choice is limited.i haven't seen a 12 m dd drill on the market in this country,we have a 8m seedhawk but can't cover the area in sensible time.
sorry, 3000 ac are just 1250 ha. So most 6 m drills can drill much more and doe it under EU condition.Trouble is any large drill is very expensive, for us drilling cover crops then main crop so I would be drilling around 3000ac a season the choice is limited.i haven't seen a 12 m dd drill on the market in this country,we have a 8m seedhawk but can't cover the area in sensible time.

with a 12 m drill our people, even under adverse conditions, will say: what I'm going to do after lunch now?
We have people which do this area with 4 m drill and are not feeling overworked. The trick is to get some variable seeding days, = autumn & spring seeding and not just WW & OSR.
Or are you just limited to a couple of days? Looking at your region, e4ither you have only garden size fields or I tend to think you are limiting yourself to a to tight rotation. So open you mind, this part between your ea4s. and you will find a way to go. But with the thinking: it will not be possible, forget it.
Only people which follow the approach of "Letting Go" , leave their comfort zone, will find solutions.

Now, that changes the direction in view quite a bit. If it's not my money I will not question this.I'll look at the Horsch NT , thanks Richard,as we move more towards the DD route York this 3000ac area is going to nearley double with all the cover cropping , I take my hat of to you if you are drilling that area with a 4 m drill but we want to go wide to save a lot of time and fuel I also have a family I want to see I don't want sit in a tractor 16. Hrs a day !! We do have a lot of small fields our average is 10 Ha. So output is hammered with everything. At the end of the day if my boss wants to buy me a 15m drill I'm not going to turn round and say don't worry I'll have a 4m . Haha.

Sorry, didn't realise there was a sprinter NTBut the sprinter nt is a tine machine
well said.We had some mixed results Richard, cover crops have come up very well nice and even as we moved into the OSR and the coulter tips had worn depth became uneven as the point lost its width but not length ,we hope to have it back from Amazon to drill wheat through some of our knee high cover crops.for us we are only just starting the DD route so our ground has a long way to go in getting the high levels of OGM needed for this type of drill, hopefully Amazon will work with us to make a drill which the UK will like it's nearly there but not quiet.
