    Microsoft outlook

I've experienced a similar issue with some clients and found that somehow Outlook or Windows system files had become corrupt. Check out this weblink for further info. Sorted the issue for me: http://www.outlook-tips.net/tips/outlook-error-ox800ccc13-in-windows-10/ Let us know whether this...

    Windows 10

I also found Ubuntu to be very user-friendly towards users who are likely to be coming from Windows.

    Windows 10

It's what we agree to when we are given the choice to install, morally dubious or not. FWIW, I agree with you, that it would be great to have a device that just works as you wish, without phoning home all the time, but we have to accept that it's the way of the world now. All your Google...

    Windows 10

Obviously, the defaults are all set to opt in to the submission of data to MS, but it can be changed. The local, rather than Microsoft account option is probably the best way, as well as disabling Cortana. http://bgr.com/2015/07/31/windows-10-upgrade-spying-how-to-opt-out/ Like I said before...

    Windows 10

As per my second post, as long as you don't click "yes" on every step of the installation, you can ensure that your data DOES stay on your device. You don't have to submit anything to Microsoft if you don't want to.

    Windows 10

I'm only quoting based on my own experience. Both of doing the update on my own 10 machines (on a massively diverse range of hardware configs), and assisting friends and family with theirs. Not so sure I'm "blissfully unaware" as you put it, but I'm aware that some people have had issues, but I...

    Windows 10

Windows 10 really is good, and if you can get it for free, then there's really no good reason not to upgrade. I don't think of it as a first release. I see it as a development of 7 and 8. If you have a legit, running version of 7 or 8.1, then upgrading should be no problem. I think most people...

    On line computer scanner

Honestly, Microsoft's own AV is pretty hopeless and comes consistently low down the rankings on magazine AV roundups. I prefer to disable it and use one of other free ones. AVG is good, and Avast is currently my free AV of choice. Run it alongside Malwarebytes, and you've got a two-pronged...

    Extension lead for router

Something like this should be ideal: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-Range-Booster-Universal-Mobile-Wi-Fi-Router-Signal-Extender-Network-/262051067493?hash=item3d0375f665 If you can find a wifi signal booster that's made by the same company as your router, then even better, as compatibility...

    slightly dead laptop

Yes. You can pick up external caddies on eBay for pennies. Here's one that will do the trick: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-External-USB-2-0-Hard-Drive-Enclosure-Case-SATA-HDD-Caddy-Windows-Mac-UK-/271934803018?hash=item3f5093cc4a Just pop the old drive into it, and hook it up to the new system...

    Moving contacts

Yes. What BadShot said. GMail is the best way. That way, once you sign into your Google account on your new phone, all your contacts will be there already. Here's a link explaining how to do it: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-transfer-your-contacts-between-iphone-and-android/

    Best value anti-virus

If you want a paid-for package, Kaspersky's Internet Security is doing very well in current PC Magazine reviews, and it's not badly priced either. In terms of free ones, well, Microsoft Security Essentials is better than nothing, but there are far better free programs out there. You can't go...

iTunes query - importing folders into a new computer

Should be fine in the Google account. It's limited by songs, not size as far as I know. I have around 100GB of media backed up in my Google account. Worth checking it out. Best of all, it's free! :-) https://play.google.com/about/music/unlock/

iTunes query - importing folders into a new computer

Yes. I've had plenty of issues with managing my media over the years, very similar to your own. Once I bit the bullet and sorted out my filing system though, it made browsing and adding so much easier. Another great utility is Google Play music. They have a Windows app, that uploads a copy of...

iTunes query - importing folders into a new computer

Hi Brisel. If you can get all your music files sorted into one master folder, you can just set iTunes to monitor that one folder. Once you've organised your media, open iTunes, and go to the "File" button at the top left. Click "Preferences" then "Advanced." There, you'll see the option for the...
