    Cars blocking farm entrance

Really? Even if they aren't on the public highway? I assume it's a verge and it's probably privately owned land. Plus they are obviously static. If I drive into a parked car, I am always going to be at fault. Am I not? Anyway, I don't suppose it would come to that. It is just an inconvenience to...

    Cars blocking farm entrance

Put a couple of big old bits of stone either side of the entrance. Far enough apart to allow good access for big vehicles but close enough that a car can't reasonably park inside them... or just a sign saying "don't park this side of stone"

    f**k Up Fortnight

May I present my latest f*ck up for your consideration. With lambing basically finished and the farm finally starting to dry out and look presentable again, I naively left the premises for the first time in weeks for a pint or two to celebrate. Once home, I decided to just look in on the shed...

    Workwear trouser recommendations?

Carhartt work trousers are well made and last better than anything I have previously bought. They also do 31'' waist rather than 30 or 32, which suits me better. About £50 mind. However, in this case, it seems that if you buy cheap, you buy twice.

For the frugal. Do minerals expire?

I have just been into the local Mole Valley and, as is my want, bought 250 selenium and cobalt sheep boluses at 75% off. I have done this sort of thing many times in the past with things like blocks, boluses and minerals. I have always operated under the assumption that in a dried, powdered form...

    Any swallows yet?

First one seen yesterday, it brought a bit of hope along with it.

    Lambing losses.

As if to prove a point, I get up this morning, I find an in lamb hogg in the shed on her back, she later pushed out 2 aborted lambs. Then I go out to the field and find the sheep had flipped over the trough and trapped 2 lamb under there that had presumably been there for 24 hours or more. One...

    Lambing losses.

Around 15% sounds accurate. I have made my peace with whatever number it ends up at. I do my best, try and learn year on year. As long as I am happy with the effort and thought I put into it the rest is a roll of the dice. I persevere with weak lambs and non doers but the eventual outcome is...

Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

What's good quality, late summer wrapped round bale haylage worth currently, per bale? I have a surplus and might as well shift it. I am told that conserved forage is now short here in the South West which I thought surprising.

    Openreach wayleave

From my research it was around £10/pole/Yr. But that didn't come from anyone who was actually in an agreement. My one never actually ended up happening because they made a mistake as to where they were putting the post.

    Openreach wayleave

    Is that about right?

    Openreach wayleave

    What? For a single pole?

    Openreach wayleave

Following a car accident that snapped a telegraph pole, Openreach want to relocate said pole onto my land. What is the going rate for this and how much should I be asking? The line caters for hundreds of people. Thanks.

    Idiots guide to Milwaukee.....

Quick question... what do you all do with your expired power tools? Smash out the motors and scrap? Straight to the tip? I am building quite a collection and am wanting to have a clear out. It seems a shame to lose all of the components but I can't see an alternative to the above choices.
