worst year ever

Time to emigrate to Essex? Don't get depressed now - it'll be winter in a few months

Can't believe the weather difference between N and S of this small island. It's only 5-600 miles from one end to other and amazes me how different the climate is.
Steady on laddie!!

Us Hei'landers cannae afford tae move to Essex!! It would cost us a fortune in fake tan!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Today's weather,

Torrential rain, with gale force winds and very heavy Hail stone showers!!!!!!! What the fuk is happening!!!!!
We've only had 'showers' today.
Same as every other feckin day for the last six weeks .
( seriously I can remember more than one day it hasn't dropped summat on us).
Fair do's , grounds not saturated like 2012 (yet) but we've still got grass to make that was ready in June.
Winter barley looking sadder by the day. Our combine man's cut his, on and off, I daren't even think about moving straw till there's 3 dry days forecast.
Wednesday was so cold I couldn't decide whether it was March or November.

Forecast for tomorrow. Belfast 15 and wet, London 27. There is absolutely no justice in the world.

Tis not all sunshine down south.
We've had an incredibly dry spring/summer. Wheats went white early and expectations are for lower than average yield- something already materialised with OSR. Root crops not looking good either.
An old timer now passed away- once told me: 'potatoes go with conkers- look at a horse-chestnut tree and yields will be similar'. Well the two-hundred year old tree outside my window has the fewest conkers I have ever seen at this time of year.
Sample digs in the fields tell a similar story.
More dry weather and more wind for us this week.

Was freezing today. Cold windy wet and 11 degrees. An absolute joke for time of year. Can't believe grass still looks well.

We had snow on April 28th, the coldest June on record I'm sure (apart from the first week which has turned out to be our only decent spell this summer) and now one of the wettest Julys.

The first ten days of April were good, and that's literally been it.

Started feeding our sucklers here yesterday, no grass growth and hay/silage not made yet so no fuggage. It is not good. Smash and grab now for silage by the look of things.

Been relatively dry summer here but we keep getting showers so haymaking has been very difficult. Lots of hay been mown the last few days but we are getting showers all the time!
There won't be a lot of spare good hay round here!

Don't think we had 2 completely dry days in a row during July.
Managed to make hay in each of last 3 weeks but more by luck than judgement. Know some who have had it lying 5 weeks:cry:

Hopefully cut the last of it on EFA area tomorrow but forecast looks no more settled than last few weeks.

Wouldn't say it's worst year ever just yet but another month of it and it could well be.

How the hell have you managed hay in Perthshire?????I'm in far west Perthshire and only one farm within 20 miles apart from myself,to my knowledge has cut anything other than lawns. I did get silage off a wee field which is unfenced and therefore ungrazed,in early July ,record crop for that field,30 bales off 3 acres.Only another 870 bales to go...........

40 cows and calves inside again since yesterday, they were gonna destroy their block of grazing so thought there was no point delaying another week and still having to put them in. Left the passage doors open as I thought they would be warm but just in from them and had to close them , blowing a gale and just started pishing down again...... f**k this weather :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
