and it depends if you want any other benefits such as BUPA for example. We get a very good NFU Group Membership discount plus we get discount on vehicles which we've taken advantage of, so in that alone the membership is worth it to us.

Wouldn't bother, I have been a member for eons, along with father too. They just dont do anything, no teeth, exasperated at their inaction with anything important re British Agg. It costs me 500-600 a year, I dont drive a Land Rover product so dont benefit from their discount on servicing etc. It is a cost to me that offers no benefit to my business I'm afraid and will shortly be canceling my membership. Tried before but somehow the DD kept going out.
Ask yourself did you hear anything form the NFU re the SFP fiasco?? I certainly didn't, you only have to look at the SFP England thread to see how serious this issue has been to some (and still is) and yet nothing from the Union that is supposed to represent us, shameful.

They aren't the cheapest for insurance but tend to understand what happens on a farm and will generally pay out with less drama. Membership well worth it for various reasons IMO. Advice, help filling in forms, help with appealing a BPS penalty.... the list is endless.

You need a hearing test.

Don't need to have insurance with them to be a member - keep the insurance quotes coming in and choose the best for you. NFU membership has paid for us this years due to discounts we have received. But we would not want to insure with them

I think with the discount I've got on a new ute it will cover our NFU membership costs for several years:)

I just left and am a lot better of for it, its not cheap and Im really not sure what you get for your membership fee ? Only reason to join is for the insurance discount, however, I just left their insurance after being quoted significantly less elsewhere for what appears to be more comprehensive cover

Who do you use Clive?

we moved to Farmers and Mercantile - there is a thread about it on here early Jan, the saving was very significant and I now feel a bit daft for not getting alternative quotes sooner and assuming the NFU wouldn't be far out all these years

I had a quote from them a couple of years ago and found them to be £500 cheaper than NFU at the time, around 7k, thought "better the Devil you know" so stayed NFU. Think I'll try them again then. Thanks

almost half price in our case, and cover is more comprehensive in many areas

real test is what happens when we claim though and not put that to the test yet I'm glad to say ! NFU had become not exactly brilliant in this respect though I found
