What breeding are they?
Some x heifers are cycling at 6 months.

If you are checking them daily you could separate when cycling and estrumate for peace of mind. Not sure at what age the bull calves are mature enough to perform at though.

We had one get in calf at four months
As above I don't know when the bulls will work but I wouldn't want them together
Estrumate is not 100% anyway

Estrumate will mostly work but you need to consider doing it twice, four weeks apart because if you do it and heifer has just been jumped, it may not be effective. We bought a 'maiden' heifer at the Sales which turned out to be in calf - whole pen had been estrumate but working back, she had obviously just been bulling and jumped.

There is a max time that it will work as well but i can't remember what it is
I was told by the vet that it would work after two weeks

We had one that must have been bulled at 4 months, she was in with similar aged bull calves, didn't know about it till it started to bag up! Still got her in her 7th lactation!
