Depends on the house, local market & competition, round here it seems to be between 3-7% depending largely on the property value and the level of service offered. I'd be inclined to try and negotiate the fees down.

+1. 6.5% is extortionate.Often wondered do you need an agent?.Can private sellers advertise on Rightmove /Primelocation?.1.5-2.5%. But you should be able to screw them down a bit more. 1.5% max if you can bargain

Estate agent here Is .75% If they cannot sell your house in 8 weeks, there won't be a fee.

1.25% around here. We sold our privately last time though, it was simple.

Costs them no more no matter how much the house sells for, round here will quote 1.5 or so, have heard of up to 3, certainly should be negotiable especially if there are competing agents, why not try for a fixed fee rather than a %age?

By coincedence I have a quote right in front of me for the agency fees for selling 2 building plots for a local charity that I help out...
1.5% if it sells, ad vertising with rigtmove and on their website, more than this is extra as is a sale board.
