E27N, mid 1940's according to Google ?
First one built 19th March 1945, according to the book I have, until 1952

There is no mention that I can see of Roadless 4wd, only half-tracks and crawlers (also County crawlers), and a Roadless equal-wheel (11x38) but 2wd tractor 'for use in the swamps of Tanganyika'.

Incidentally @jakeboy , I was only guessing last night about your combine being diesel from new, but the L4 was introduced in 1953, because "from 1953, many Perkins L4 conversion packs were sold to convert spark-ignition [E27N] tractors to diesel"

What was included in the conversion pack from petrol to diesel, I wonder?
I have a TE20 P3 and you can see on it the conversion parts, bellhousing adaptor casting (as the starter is on the opposite side), and the radiator mounting is different as the bonnet sits higher up, also the obvious spacer between bonnet and dash.

The Fordson looks to have been similar, there are photos here of the development tractor

(taken from this book, hope no copyright issues:eek:, I did once mention this to @admin and he told me to JFDI:))

We were very lucky down through the years there wasn't more accidents, the kit was basic wasn't it?

Are they refueling along side the County, without stopping, like the Harrier?

I don't know what fuel tanks a County has, hopefully more than the standard Ford one, but 115 gallons must be several fills?
Guess the driver dipped the clutch while they stuck in the nozzle..
And seven minutes to change a set of shares??
Oh and only the 2 headlights:wideyed:
Dawn on a misty November morning, and the driver has the windscreen open to keep himself awake:sleep:

I thought the middle ad was interesting because it shows the type of company who you never hear of, but must struggle after the closure of factories like Bathgate, Longbridge, Banner Lane, Doncaster, Meltham, etc etc. A bit depressing really:cry:
