drilling misshaps

I had my vaddy tramline break a wire on one unit last year so had one tramline left on for a bit. Looked bad for a bit but couldnt tell at harvest. I have put a cheap camera on tractor and a pair of cameras which I put one in drill box. Has been really handy for running seed right out and also when tramlining you can see the seed being blown back to the box so if it's doing that when your not on tramline something is wrong.

The old mf30 was the best, you could see every feedroll and the seed falling down the tube as you drove...

You still can.

But not from here :D

Set our Kuhn combi up perfectly or so I thought BUT on the left hand side when the wheat came through it was showing a miss of over a coulter width easily and not due to driver error from my apprentice drill man, not totally anyway (quick learner) who I now share the drilling with. Measuring the distance of the coulter bar from the power harrow each side showed a difference of 3cm, so angled slightly which is exaggerated at the end of the coulters. Drill off before we did anymore adjusted A frame only slightly, jobs a good un! (y)

I get that too but agree with @glasshouse.my amazone is a box drill by the way
Nick...

Ditto, Amazone super here. Dad managed to get all the tramlines 1/2 tractor width out last year.We have a 3m drill, spraying at 24m. Does the Amazone put one side of the tramline down at a time? Trying to get it right this year!

I know of a couple that are still in use. Good for sitting on the back, waiting to pop the rooks off behind the drill.

I was using a MF55..probably from 1955!!...when i calibrate it every run is like within 1-2% max for variation, i always marvel at it...for her good service she is not to be sold...awesome to work on...i can see everything...as mentioned i have used plenty of airseeders in my time and i always have that bit of doubt...

the hopper of one of these on top of a MZuri subcast would be awesome!! IMO.

Most drills will do 1 or 2 tramlines/run, best to do a half width then put both in the same run , IE in your case; 1 half width, then 3 normal, then tramline.

We ve had , well I ve had a major cock up at the beginning of cereal drilling this year ! We had our vaddy box and trimble box connected together so we could do variable rate drilling anyway to allow us to do this they had to down load the latest updates on to our vaddy box . Anyway I d drilled nearly 150 acre before I realised that the drill was putting tramlines in every bout and switching the tramlines off when it should tramline ! When we did get the dealer to it they said oh yeh we are finding that there are only so many updates you can do before you run into trouble ! great . In my defence before I started drilling I did check that air was coming out each coulter !

I was doing some contact bean drilling in the spring, been there all day and about 12 acres left, he came and brought me some more seed, one of the bags flew away down the field and he was chasing after it, every time he got near it it flew off again and I found this very amusing :D but this distracted me and I set off down the field without the fan in gear, I went about ten yards and heard this crunching noise, I immediately new what had happened, the metering unit had filled with beans and the land wheel had kept trying to turn it until the fast gears had snapped off  I had to put it in slow gear and drill the last 12 acres twice to get the right seed rate he wanted on  :banghead:
