You've obviously had different advice - all I know is, when S-I-L wanted some for her lab, she was told not to use the farm version but to get the dog specific one.

My (farm) vet prescribed Metacam for a collie that was hopping lame. That’s fine, says I, I’ve got some of that already... I was told that I mustn’t give her that or I would kill her, so I begrudgingly bought an expensive bottle of Metacam syrup to squirt on her food every night.

Fair comment as well ?

Op's vet gives him a script for something but he doesn't know how to use it ? Our vets wouldn't do that im certain, job enough just to get anything from them despite the old annual visit job, which strange as often you get the feeling that the youngster sent to do that , has had less experience with sheep than yerself ...:scratchhead:

His attitude was a bit off with people some times to say the least, but I bet he was/ is a good vet , no doubt.
Sounded likecHe Wouldnt suffer fools lightly .
He posted some good stuff and never shied away from a ' bit of a debate'.

Didn't always agree with him but I miss his posts and he would have certainly have know the why's and wherefore's about metacam for dogs.

It's sub cut for cattle but I thought it was I m for sheep. That's what I've always done. Dose rate, 1ml works wonders and have often used less with good results.

And I have given it to dogs, like 0.1ml

Surely you should be asking the vet though?

Vet gave some to one of my sheep earlier this month. He definitely did it sub cut.
