I think I'd have sorted the price before buying or selling.Just doing a few bills for last years harvest, has the price come done much? What's a fair price
Wheat and spring barley £30 an acre
Winter barley £40 ?....?

I don't think you are far off with the prices you think, there is an abundance of straw in this area, and stuff that was baled and stored away isn't really shifting just yet.Just doing a few bills for last years harvest, has the price come done much? What's a fair price

That's what we charged last year in Yorkshire all to local farmers... Don't want to upset anyone as it's bad for relations just want to be fair and we don't like to get greedy with straw.I think I'd have sorted the price before buying or selling.
yorkshire straw is worth a lot less than shropshire straw. Not enough £ unless the crops were poor.
It would be wheat at £45-£55, sbarley £40, wbarley £50+ around here

Did wonder about buying some in and filling the barn now.
I'm thinking i could possibly buy in straw now, that would work out cheaper than if i'd kept my own and baled and carted it.It's cheap enough if people are willing to sell. Seems to be a lot of supply and little demand from what I've heard. Is that still the case?
the best way to sell straw would be a weigh bridge in every field… but that's not really possible. You don't go to the pub and buy a glass of beer , you buy a pint because you know what your getting surely ?
Buy fert buy the tonne, sell spuds by the tonne so why trade straw by the acre....madness!
