Claas 55 challenger

I have a claas 55 and it is smoking black out of exhaust when working hard have checked common faults such as split pipes and so on. Seems to die under hard load and not quite pull as it should get into gear 9 and it dies with multiple machines
Any ideas of what to check

A leak in the air plumbing of the engine would be my first check around. Send off some engine oil for analysis also if not other obvious cause is found?

Have you cleaned the air filter and put new fuel filters on. A lot of engines produce black smoke when they can’t draw enough fuel to keep the mixture correct. Cat fuel filters are quite fine and block easily.

If it has one on that engine. Boost leak otherwise, even though the OP says he has checked..

Cylinder head on the Cat engine are prone to failure according to workshop manager at Chandlers

CAT motors are very prone to fuel issues. ive six car engines and every one is fussy with filters. If it dies during turning under load that’s usually fuel related. Even if it’s not filters it could be the transfer pump. Come to think of it though is the engine the genesis ford. If it is the turbo often the core cartridge an be switched out for a fraction of a new turbo. Has this happened suddenly or got worse over time. Exhaust could be part collasped inside. If the air filter is sooty that’s a sign.

Cheers air filters. Are good will check fuel system

Has only just been rebuilt 400 hours ago

Air filters good will check fuel

Has it been bad since it has been rebuilt, this engine has camshaft driven injectors which are tricky to set up and can give problems.
I'd check this out first .

I got it 2 years ago having driven it around a yard could see no problems however when got back to ours and used under load turns out it had been cooked beforehand, so had a full rebuild enging top to bottom was good to start with for about 200 hours has started smoking balck and feeling a bit gutless this autumn

Need to get the pipes off the turbo and check the play/state of the shaft the turbine wheels rotate on.

if engine has been cooked could there be problems in cooling system?
