Night Vision Scopes

What kind of scope do you have on your .243?

To be fair, it is literally entirely level night vision camera and you’ll struggle to find one cheaper! As the saying goes “you get what you pay for” but it does do the job.
I find I get the best results if i zero it in on a target first to make sure the camera is sat square on the scope as it does affect the aim if it’s not bang on.
oh i quite agree (y)
i just find it odd having to shoot the hmr off the hip otherwise i cant see the screen
ideal on ratty where you can set up on a bale and wait with the airrifle
i do need to get some window tint film to go on the screen as i cant turn the brightness down enough and the bright screen ruins whats left of my vision in the dark

Would you prefer the bell adjustment or adjustment by the little knobs half way along, if you know what I mean.
I honestly haven’t used the pard much…. Having eyes that don’t adjust in the dark makes it’s awkward.
Definitely go for the saddle focus although if you use the scope at lower mags it doesn’t really need tweaking much at all. Higher mags I would tend to be leaning on something so a bell focus wouldn’t matter much. Side focus is quite stiff in the sidewinder but will probably loosen up.

I use detachable leopold scope rings and can move from rifle to rifle, dial the turrets in to the last zero and job done.

I ve got a pard add on. Works fine on the air rifle at close range but think I need to change my scope on my .243. Do I need a scope with parallax adjustment?

Yes, and you’ll want one that can focus really close…like 10yards or something because the light wavelengths involved require shorter focussing ability. I have a hawke sidewinder which works well.

My add on has no parallax adjust on the scope but does work.

Take your scope in the shop and try it

I've got a wulf 4k day/night scope, seems to work really well. I only use it on an air-rifle but can easily see out to 150yds with the standard torch, you can get a VCSEL light for about £50 that will push the range out to 300yds or so.

I've don't like the any of the scope add-ons myself, but it's moving to a day-night scope is a compromise for daytime shooting - they're fine for close up buy they all start to get a bit grainy when you're at 10x mag.

I think I paid about £400 for mine at about a month old with the balance of a 3yr warranty.

Does anyone use or have recommendations of a Good reasonably priced Night vision Scope?
I use a Ward 700 add on with a Dark Engine Max 940 IR on a .223 which is very adequate to 300yards but the Hik Alpex or the new Arken Zulus are reputed to be very good and exceptional value for money. The Stalking Directory forum will be your best source of info.

NV for non FAC air guns is pretty straightforward, but other than that the issue isn’t really seeing stuff at the range you want to shoot it at, but being able to see clearly & safely what is beyond it. A lot of the older kit around simply isn’t up to the job. Pard add ons with a decent IR illuminator are pretty good, or systems using G2+ & upwards tubes. Thermal is coming on, but expensive. Realistically a combination of thermal spotting device alongside a decent IR scope, either digital or tubed, gives the best of both technologies both for finding things, checking safety downrange, & accurate shooting.
Where centrefire rifles are being used at night, there is no place for cheap compromises with inadequate kit.

Has anybody got a Pard DS35? They look like the dog's danglies at not unreasonable money for NV. With range finder built in if you choose too.

They're good at their price point 👍
If set up properly the auto ranging is good.
Of course there's better for more dollar, but where do you stop 🤷
When used with a thermal spotter... what more could you ask for 😉
