Didn't realise he was auctioneering now!Hereford Ewes Yesterday:
CULL EWES - 1787, GOATS - 72 Auctioneers - Rob Meadmore/Phil Jones A much improved entry greeted by a much improved trade and again sheep travelling a long distance to be sold at Hereford. Generally a better standard on offer, with the highest price achieved for a single pure bred ewe for some time at £245, a whole penful of 18 at £188, and several between £163 and £180. Crossbred ewes having a lift with all customers most active and animated, with both strong Texels and Suffolks from £120 to £150. Marvellous demand for Mules again with plenty of pens between £120 and £130, lighter and leaner all over £100. Hill breeds sharp, best between £80 and £90.
Unusual for Hereford, an entry of Blackface ewes proved very popular topping at £100.50, with penfuls at £80 and £86. Rams a bit subdued but still top price of £142, others at £125, £123 etc. Again a much increased entry of goats, and as every week excellent competition and prices with a top price of £148 and an average of £124.
