7 assists out of 6122 births in 'our' herd this yearAre Angus / Angus crosses known for narrow calving Chanel ?
Don't think so I use BB an Charolais on them with no issues. Are Angus / Angus crosses known for narrow calving Chanel ?
Is it the only bull you are calving to at the moment ?Yes, just had to jack another one out but thankfully it was the right way round
Don't get down, you just get years like that sometimes!Well I don’t think someone up there likes me….just had another one the wrong way round and a ceaser
Why is it always at 1am, looks like no bed for me
I disagree with this, I'd venture to suggest that the reason for your issues is that the cows are under stress so the calves cant get turned or that the calves are too big.I had the vet out this morning and he said it’s just bad luck they are coming backwards
The run of backwards calves that I had earlier this year weren't really all that big, one that springs to mind was around 38kg.I disagree with this, I'd venture to suggest that the reason for your issues is that the cows are under stress so the calves cant get turned or that the calves are too big.
Looking back through the thread it looks as though generally the calves are too big.
What percentage have you helped this spring? Would that be normal (I'm guessing no)
I've helped 5% i.e. one
Looks like its the bull.......
Aye and if he took the bull out at night would do away with this night time calvingAre any of them A I'd.....could it be the technician to blame?
We ai ewes and I had to have a word with the technician, she was trying to rush on and was putting a percentage in backwards
He has a bit to learn!Aye and if he took the bull out at night would do away with this night time calving
Just PP hayledgeWhat have they been fed on? Neighbour of mine had a lot of calving issues when he switched from dairy to sucklers which I think was down to them being on dairy quality pit silage
They want pushing and selling as yearlings then you could keep anther 100 cowsAnd one straight after it that was the right way round…

I’d get them all out if they’d just come the right bloody way!
