    Best Weedwiper ?

I have worn out two Rotowiper’s and have now moved onto a Logic . Vastly superior (imo) on grassland for thistles and nettles.

Small lambs explain why this is happening

@Crashem8340 Do you have increasing numbers of ticks on farm and do you treat ewes for them ? Your location will also have a bearing on tick activity. Small lambs is a symptom of tick bourne fever when niave sheep are introduced to a previously unincountered tick population.

Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Never quite as much as you think they should be. Depends how big they are. Big variation around the country depending on breeding . At Ashford recently the biggest but not fat, fat around the £80 mark, although been attending to lambing matters recently so might be out . Ring Hobbs Parker at...

Read my post . I’m over it . But I don’t have to agree with you just because.

    Cash in ewe hogs

I understood the predictions to be what would happen after we left rather than any interim . The pound has gone down because the money men think we are not such a good bet . A better exchange rate into our biggest market has perked things up . Happy Days. When we have actually left it will all...

    Cash in ewe hogs

Others have explained my thinking. We haven’t left yet. I only look at this as a sheep farmer as far as TFF is concerned. At present we have tariff free access to EU for sheep meat . The future is far from certain either way . With high tariffs to our biggest market will mean a massive hiatus...

    Cash in ewe hogs

Just £50 you’re not that confident. As far as I can see a lot of farmers have bet the Farm on there being a satisfactory outcome .

    Quad bike poll

Until you want to hitch anything on the tow ball which is much further under the carrier than the 550 Grizzly. It put me off right off. I can’t afford that many osteopath sessions!! The new Kodak is ‘Mickey Mouse’ compared to the previous Grizzly IMO.

    AHDB Non Job's.

Although I can find myself arguing to justify both, I would offer the Auction Market and it’s associated aesthetics and Support payment systems that have cushioned and distanced producers from the food market.

Michael Gove speech @ OFC - Farming for the Next Generation

Agree with your sentiment but if the payments continue to be significant the likes of RSBP will very soon engineer some appropriate ‘business ‘ to qualify . As stated above it’s very difficult to see how the two can be separated . A landowning farmer should quite rightly have access to...

Tupping outside, wintering inside, lambing outside?

Getting a flock of sheep through the winter at the lowest cost relevant to expected output is surely what everyone’s after . How that’s achieved is pretty much down to the ‘shepherd’. If your land and climate can accommodate some level of rotational winter grazing it definitely needs...

    Lowland outdoor lambing

Be wary of disease ( joint ill) build up in your penning area as lambing progresses. Just a thought.

    Finishing some lambs indoors

Depends what breed they are. Big variation . I’ve never found stores of a ‘certain breed’ actually weighing 40kg make the money.

    Finishing some lambs indoors

I reckon there is only a margin ,( even then slim when the last lamb leaves the shed ),if the lambs are already grown to weight but lack finish(+40kg) . If not the store ring is the place to be if you haven’t got good grazing ahead. There will always be someone a bit more optimistic with...

Urgently needed- Location Agreements for film/TV

The location manager/Back office should provide you with all the documentation . Not much use you waving a document at them as they won’t sign anything until it’s been through the legal team. Just remember you are in charge and don’t let them push you around . Don’t fall into the old trap of...

Urgently needed- Location Agreements for film/TV

I’ve been involved in several of these and all legit filming companies will give you an agreement to sign basically a ‘release document ‘ detailing terms and price. Beware Beware the film industry is full of sh1!s , they all want to be your best mate until they have what they want. If you are...
