Do I have to write to the address?
Ideally yes - as we have no way to identify you are the same person who created the account. You could have got access to their account and request a deletion. It is some what ironic, given we have anonimity generally, but we need to know who you are to delete your account.

Be sure as this process can't be reversed, and if you join again in the future, you will have to do so from scratch. There is no way to get anything back.

What if I don't want to write to them?

I want to delete my account. How do I do it? And also will my threads disappear if I delete it?
@Farmer Brendan, just a suggestion to help you, If you want to , to make your account more anonymous, you could, from your account profile/name 'click' into your 'account details' click on your avatar /profile picture then at the bottom click on Delete to remove your avatar /profile picture , then then go to your location box and delete that from the box to remove your location and not comment any longer that will help for it to not show as much (y)
