NEW PROSTOP-E ELECTRIC NOZZLE VALVE FOR THE HIGHEST PRECISION SPRAYING HALL 1, Stand 119 A working demonstration on the new ProStop-E electrically-actuated nozzle valve will be on display on the Pentair Hypro stand. The new electric valve allows individual nozzle control for precise matching of spray swaths and can virtually eliminate spray overlaps. In farmer trials in the US, fitting ProStop-E and moving from 7 sections to 24 reduced our test farm’s recorded sprayed area by 2.5% and consequently reduced the spray bill by the same amount. There is potential to improve this further with individual nozzle control and we are repeating the trials in the UK and Europe this year. By preventing selective herbicide overlaps, areas of poor crop growth were also eliminated. A ProStop-E Can Node is available that allows each valve to be individually actuated along the spray boom with daisy chain wiring between each one fitted by industry standard M12 connections. ProStop-E fits onto a standard nozzle body, such as the Hypro ProFlo, in place of the diaphragm check valve and uses an innovative locking collar for easy orientation. A quarter turn ball valve is actuated by a 12V supply and combines very low power draw with high flow throughput. Response time is an instantaneous 180 milliseconds at 250mA to maximize responsiveness and spraying precision. ProStop-E is compact and lightweight and enjoys a high level IP67 protection against water and dust ingression. The new nozzle valve is currently being evaluated by a number of sprayer manufacturers. It is also a viable retrofit option to improve spraying precision with existing sprayer models when coupled with an appropriate controller or software upgrade.
