Still not here yet but i heard a Cuckoo yesterday . They are getting rare round here,did not hear one last year. :(
Yep, only heard a cuckoo once last year, nothing this year so far.

I remember, visiting family here and at home in Herts, in the 70's and 80s that the cuckoos were really common and even seemed 'loud', and finding their eggs wasn't that rare a thing. :(

Resident swallows arrived back here this morning, lovely to see. 3 weeks later than normal, lets hope their arrival heralds better weather, a lovely warm day here today.

Ploughing for fodderbeet today and had to move 1 nest and lift plough on another for 2 sitting lapwings,they soon came back to sit

Still none for me , I'm beginning to think that they may have crossed me off their list . Never failed yet so I suppose there's still time , but I wish they'd hurry up !

hope they don't fail for you! piled in here the last 2 day's been at my mate's 6 mile's away a fortnight.
A friend less than three miles away had his swallows turn up a fortnight before ours did; it must be down to either taking different routes or starting from different places. People on here far North of us had their swallows come well before ours too.

Of course Chinese-supplied mist-nets in N + W Africa will be taking their toll... :mad:
